Confessions of a teenage shopaholic!
Today was a really fun and busy day. Wellcoming kicked off with ‘wear your PJs day’ and the votes are already coming in for the Wellcoming King and Queen. Weigh-in went well this morning with lots of happy faces – particularly amongst out 4 week campers
With a lot to fit into just five days this week activity levels were high. Cascades had nutrition, crossfit, email and sports. The Smokies went to Xcelerate and also had nutrition; the Appalachians had PT and Group; whilst the Rockies also had Nutrition and Crossfit.
This evening the Sierras had their dine-out challenge to Chili’s. The guiltless grill provided the perfect dining option for many but a few decided that the temptation of other, less healthy options was too great. In fairness, they had planned for a high calorie dinner by going under their calories at breakfast and dinner (a good tactic for staying on program) but I think they’ve have to not eat for a few days to justify the steak and bacon!
Whilst the Sierras were off dining and the Eagles were shopping, the rest of the camp played Capture the Flag and earned points for their Wellcoming Teams. Tomorrow’s theme is ‘blast from the past’. Old enough to actually have actually lived in the 70s, 80s and 90s, I am looking forward to the campers’ ideas of what I wore as a child!
Jude.

July 9 - Getting Steps In
The little row of weary faces that greeted my in the dinner line tonight inspired me to declare it ‘movie night’! With four groups off campus on trips, only our upper camp was left and they have been working so hard all day I felt they deserved a treat.
However, we now have some Dolphins in the making, and to reach Dolphin level you need 20,000 steps a day average. That’s approximately 10 miles! And believe me, even with all the running around we do, I’ve only reached that once so far this summer.
So in order to get entry to the movie, Cascades and Rockies had to show their pedos with 20,000 + steps on them. Some girls even walked around the fire pit whilst eating their fat free soft serve desert to ensure they would get in! For the Alps it was a little easier as being on the first level they only needed 10,000 but their time will also come!
The Appalachians and Snowdonia had their final surfing day today and spent the afternoon in downtown San Luis. I hear fat free frozen yogurt and hats were the main purchases. Now they are having s’mores and a fire back at the campsite.
The Sierras took the Smokies off to visit their namesake and today involved setting up camp and taking a hike. The conditions are beautiful in the mountains at the moment and I hope that the change of scenery will off-set the fear of hiking!
Have a lovely evening,
Jude.
