The Wellspring Plan is based on simple, scientifically based and sustainable changes, including:

Low-Fat Diet: Campers learn to enjoy a low-fat, low-density diet that is nutritious and delicious. Activity Management: Campers are encouraged to achieve a minimum of 10,000 steps each day.  We accomplish this through a range of exciting sports and adventure activities, and also just by “getting our steps in” through walks and hikes. Many of our campers exceed 20,000 or more steps per day. The personal training and team sports coaching at Wellspring Camp La Jolla provides transferable skills that campers can use to continue their progress at home.  You will be introduced to lots of new activities so that you can develop skills and find the type of exercise that is fun and feels good to you. Lifestyle Change: Unlike traditional weight loss camps or fat camps, Wellspring employs therapists trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help campers make their changes in diet and activity permanent. This is done through our unique Life Coaching program, which was developed to teach campers the skills most useful for successful long-term weight control. Life Coaching classes also help improve stress management skills, enhance frustration tolerance, and allow campers to work through the issues that might be contributing to the excess weight, such as emotional eating or resorting to food as an unhealthy coping mechanism.

Family Involvement: Unique among all weight loss camps, Wellspring strongly encourages families to join us for a Family Workshop.  At Family Workshops, the entire family learns how to live a healthy lifestyle. Parents learn the best strategies for maximizing support for their new weight controller and how to make the home environment safe from temptations and pit falls. Moms can also join their son or daughter for a weight loss vacation themselves through out adult weight loss program.

Continuing Care: When Wellspring Camp is over, the success does not end.
